Dust mites are the most common trigger for asthma and allergies. Using
dust mite barriers on pillows and mattresses helps to keep dust mite allergens
from affecting your baby.
Barriers are really good for mattress and pillows where vacuuming isn't enough
to control the dust mites. The tightness of the weave is essential to keep the mites from migrating. Therefore it's important to choose a dust mite barrier that's got very fine fibres: 6 microns is a good measure for true mite-proofness.
The
covers are made of a very high thread count, say 400 or more are also good for dust mite barriers. The higher the thread count, the tighter the weave. And if your dust mite barrier is organic cotton, then you've really come across a chemical free solution.
